About the Role:  

Summerset Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Architect / Architectural Lead to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the production and management of architectural design, coordination, and lead consultant roles on allocated village projects from the completion of concept design through to construction documentation. You will ensure that all design processes adhere to industry best practices and Summerset's standard design requirements.

This is a 6 month fixed term position and can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the production and detailed programming of architectural documentation for assigned projects.
  • Perform the lead consultant role, ensuring continuous improvement in processes such as QA, variations, and change management.
  • Manage building consent submissions and approvals.
  • Work with our in-house construction team. You will provide advice to resolve on site queries and perform site observations on allocated village projects throughout New Zealand.
  • Oversee the BIM Execution Plan and BIM processes, ensuring REVIT models meet Summerset standards.
  • Ensure all designs meet regulatory compliance, including health and safety requirements.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture and manage direct reports, including recruitment, coaching, and performance reviews.

What you will need:

  • NZRAB Registered or LBP3 qualified (or international equivalent).
  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of industry experience, including local residential and complex building projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing design teams.
  • Proficiency in BIM methodology, REVIT, and specification writing.
  • Proven ability to produce effective construction and building consent documentation.
