We are seeking for a talented, passionate Diversional Therapist to join our St Johns Village!
This role offers you the opportunity to design and lead a recreational program for seniors living in a supportive care environment. You will foster a culture of meaningful engagement that upholds dignity and promotes independence through the principles of therapeutic recreation.

A strong understanding of a holistic, person-centered approach is essential, along with a high level of human awareness, including empathy and compassion. You should be confident in facilitating both individual and group activities, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a genuine willingness to learn and grow.
The hours for this role are Tuesday to Saturday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Other responsibilities include:
- Support residents in engaging with social life by understanding their interests and offering meaningful, personalized activities.
- Plan and deliver activity programs that promote choice, independence, and wellbeing, in line with Summerset policies.
- Lead and participate in activities, including events, outings, and resident transportation as needed.
- Apply the APIED process to develop and manage individual and group recreation programs.
- Monitor and report on residents' engagement and progress according to policy.
- Track and submit monthly expenditure records for approval.
About you:
- A minimum qualification of National Certificate in Diversional Therapy (Level 4) or equivalent. At least 3 years of relevant work experience may also be acceptable.
- Strong organisational skills, ability to multi-task and a positive “can-do” attitude
- Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy and a genuine interest in working with older people
- Current first aid certificate or willingness to undertake a two-day course
- Full & clean Drivers license & ability to drive a Mobility Van.
- Computer literacy with using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
