I began my career at Summerset in October 2018 as a caregiver, navigating a new culture, language, and workplace dynamic. Coming from the Philippines, where I spent much of my time with my grandparents, I’ve always had a deep connection with older people — caring for them feels natural and meaningful.

 

Summerset supported my nursing studies, and I committed to gaining two years of NZ nursing experience with them. That investment paid off: in 2023, I was honoured to be named Nurse of the Year, a recognition that reflects not just my dedication but the incredible support of my Ellerslie team, who feel like family.

 

Later that same year, I stepped into the role of Clinical Nurse Lead, continuing to serve with heart, leadership, and a passion for aged care.
