I have been employed with Summerset for over 7 years. As someone who only had knowledge in one industry, I was a bit apprehensive about how I would transition, but with a stern amount of convincing, it led me to enquire about volunteering. Over the course of 5 months volunteering, I had secured a casual position, towards eventually becoming full-time. Summerset has enabled me to build strong bonds with colleagues, as well as residents and their respective relatives.

 

I strongly believe that by building trusting and respectful relationships, it makes for a fulfilling and rewarding experience. Being able to engage with the residents and their families makes my job very meaningful as, I have come across many wonderful people here, whether it be colleague's, residents, or their families. I always strive to do and be better at my job because I love what I do.

 

Throughout my time here, I have been able to obtain an extensive wealth of knowledge, but one achievement I am most proud of was winning housekeeper of the year for 2023. Although I had been nominated on several occasions, I never expected to win the award in that category. It was a humbling experience and accolade to receive from a company that gave me a chance. 

 

Summerset has given me many opportunities, but the many residents (past and present) I have come to know, and value are one of many reasons why i am still here. They are my drive, and I strive to do my best for them and for Summerset.
