Job Description:

We’re looking for a Bar Supervisor/ Duty Manager to support the smooth running of our on‑site bar and front‑of‑house operations at our St Johns village, while helping to create a warm, enjoyable space for our residents. The role includes preparing and serving beverages to a high standard and contributing to a relaxed, social atmosphere for residents and their families, as the bar is a key gathering place within the village. While also supporting events, functions, and Bistro nights. We’re seeking someone who is approachable, engaging, and able to build rapport with residents. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, prepare, and deliver drink and bar food orders, including processing payments accurately and maintaining high presentation standards.
  • Keep the bar area, equipment, glassware, and utensils clean, tidy, and well‑maintained, while upholding all food safety, hygiene, and Food Control Plan requirements.
  • Manage stock levels by completing daily checks, placing orders, and carrying out stocktakes in line with operational needs.
  • Complete end‑of‑shift duties, including cash‑ups, and provide a warm, customer‑focused experience for residents, families, and guests.
  • Receive and clarify requests for village events, prepare and deliver event service to a high standard, and coordinate effectively with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams.
  • Ensure event spaces are promptly cleaned and reset, and lead post‑event evaluations to continuously improve processes and resident experience.
  • Supporting the wider team as needed, including helping with Café and Bistro front‑of‑house duties when required

This is a permanent full-time role, working a roster Wednesday to Sunday, 12.00pm to 8.00pm (However flexibility is required around start and finish times with events and functions). 

Qualifications:

As an experienced Bar Supervisor or Duty Manager, you’ll be no stranger to creating smooth bar rhythms, ensuring service standards, systems, and front‑of‑house operations are running seamlessly.

About you:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a bar or similar environment
  • A genuine interest in supporting resident wellbeing through great service is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, champagne, and cocktails
  • Knowledge of PosBoss systems would be an advantage
  • Holds Duty Manager’s Certification (or be prepared to complete)
  • Must be over 18 years of age (this is required for mixing and serving alcoholic beverages)
  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Understanding of food safety
