Summerset is preparing to open the doors to its brand-new retirement and care facility in Cranbourne North. A stunning addition to our vibrant village community. With its beautiful location, this new space will be the jewel in our crown. We’re looking for two friendly, energetic Café Supervisors to help bring our café to life and create a welcoming hub for residents and guests.

Job Description:
The Opportunity
You’ll be our onsite café lead, sole charge during your shift to begin with until our grand opening. You’ll be responsible for delivering exceptional service and supporting our Chef with a light menu. Shifts run 8am–4pm, Monday to Sunday, and you’ll need to work at least one weekend day. We’re hiring two team members as well as a casual position to cover these hours. The role begins on 9 February and is offered as a fixed-term position, with the possibility of becoming permanent. Once the café opens fully to residents in March, there will be more shifts on offer—first in, best dressed to choose your preferred roster.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and serve barista-quality coffee and beverages
- Assist the Chef with basic cooking and light menu preparation (wraps, sandwiches, slices, etc.)
- Deliver outstanding customer service to residents, families, and visitors
- Manage café operations, including opening/closing, cash handling, and stock control
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
- Support village events and resident activities as needed

What You’ll Bring
- Proven barista skills and experience in a café or hospitality setting
- Basic cooking skills to assist with food preparation
- Warm, respectful approach to older people and their families
- Ability to work sole-charge and manage busy periods with composure
- RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate is ideal—if you don’t, we’ll support you to get it
- Flexibility to work one weekend day
- Current Food Handling certificate (or willingness to obtain)
