Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Chef Manager to join our our team at our Papamoa Village.  As Chef Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and service. There will be a set number of meals to prepare daily for our residents, as well as regular onsite functions and events. You'll also have the opportunity to showcase your creativity in our onsite Café, which is a popular hub for both residents and visitors. You’ll create varied and seasonal menus tailored to the preferences and dietary needs of our residents, manage food budgets, and lead a dedicated kitchen team—all while helping to make mealtimes a highlight of the day.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, with shift times of either 7:30am to 4:00pm or 9:00am to 5:30pm.

Qualifications:

As the Chef Manager, you will bring both culinary passion and strong leadership to the role. You'll have experience working in a professional kitchen, ideally within a care, hospitality, or residential environment, and a genuine interest in creating meals that nourish and delight. Your ability to lead a team, stay organised, and meet the diverse dietary needs our residents is key.

To be successful in the role, you'll need:

  • A recognised culinary qualification 
  • Experience managing successful kitchen teams
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • A warm, approachable manner and a genuine care for older adults
