About the role:
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to champion health, safety, and wellbeing across our national Property & Facilities operations. This is a key role where you’ll work closely with our facilities team and contractors to embed safe systems of work, drive compliance, and foster a proactive safety culture.
This role can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the delivery of our annual HSW plan in alignment with Summerset’s strategy: Safe People, Safe Process, Safe Places
- Coach and support internal teams on best-practice health, safety and wellbeing as it relates to contractor management
- Ensure compliance with H&S regulations and reduce risk across contractor activities
- Investigate incidents and implement improvements to prevent recurrence
- Support the design and rollout of modern contractor management systems, including permit to work processes
- Deliver targeted HSW training to Facilities, Property, and HSW teams
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
What you’ll bring:
- Significant HSW advisory experience in property or maintenance, ideally in aged care or healthcare
- Strong knowledge of contractor safety systems (SWMS, TA, PTW, SSSP)
- A tertiary qualification in workplace HSW
- Proven ability to influence, coach, and engage stakeholders at all levels
- High attention to detail, and understanding of regulatory requirements
