Job Description:

We are looking for an exceptional Village Assistant to join our  Waikanae   Village  until April 2026.

In this sole-charge role, you will ensure the safety and security of the village and be ready to respond to any medical or emergency incidents that may arise.

You will be responsible for being the first point of contact for all Village related matters during your shift, providing a welcoming and supportive presence throughout the day. Your role is key in ensuring our residents feel safe, heard, and well cared for, while maintaining a visible presence that fosters trust and connection within the village community.

Your day-to-day will include: 

  • Providing a calm, professional first response to medical emergencies
  • Liaising with emergency services when needed
  • Monitoring village security and respond to any unusual activity
  • Maintaining clear communication with the Village Manager

This is a  fixed-term role through to 6 April 2026, working Saturday and Sunday 8:30am - 4:30pm

Qualifications:

About You:  

You’ll be someone who brings a calm, confident presence to the role—comfortable working independently during weekend day shifts, quick thinking, and able to make sound decisions under pressure. 

You’ll also bring: 

  • Confident working independently and making quick, effective decisions when needed
  • A strong communicator who remains calm and composed in high-pressure or emergency situations
  • Naturally responsible, dependable, and highly observant, with great attention to detail
  • Able to build rapport and trust with residents
  • Has a current First aid certificate (preferrable) and full drivers license
